JOHN WINFREY
| John Winfrey works primarily
in watercolors and oil. His training includes study with Doug Houtchens
at Davidson College; Ray Prohaska, Isabel McIllvain, and Kathleen Olson
at Washington and Lee University.
Recent one-man shows are: “Interpretations of Nature: Landscapes from the Mountains to the Low Country” spring 2000, at the Williams School and “The Colors of Provence” winter 2000–2001 at the Sidney Lewis Hall—both on the Washington and Lee University Campus. John draws inspiration directly from nature, people, animals, landscapes, and seascapes. In nature there are dynamic relationships among shapes, colors, textures, and tones. He attempts to interpret these with an artist’s eye. |
