I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember, carrying a sketchbook around with me wherever I went. I received a B.A. in fine arts along with my certification in art education at the State University College of New York at Oswego. After graduating from Oswego, I attended the State University College of Arizona at Flagstaff, and the State University College at New Paltz, N.Y., taking studio art and art education courses.
I taught art to students of all ages in New York State and retired from a thirty-year teaching career in 2007. I loved teaching; exposing children to all sorts of creative experiences and watching them make art connections between themselves and the outside world. I hope to teach again in some capacity.
I strive to make time for my own art, showing my work when I can. While residing in New York I exhibited in many local venues as well as a few out of state shows. Besides painting, I also dabble in quilting and sculpture, enjoying the tactile side of creativity. I have had some experience in set design and murals also.
I love to garden, which is reflected in my artwork. Landscapes and still lifes are what I am mostly inspired to paint and I have done several commissions of people's homes and pets. I moved to Lexington, Va. recently with my husband, Bill: my "framer", advisor, and supporter and am eager to explore what this beautiful area has to offer for my canvas!
