DEBORAH CAMERO

     Throughout her career Deborah has accepted commissions for portraits, including portraits of show horses and dogs along
with their owners and she continues to do so today.  Ever interested in helping emerging artists, Deborah also teaches small groups in her studio here in Lexington. Call for further information.

    Originally from Pennsylvania, Deborah Camero came to Rockbridge County in 2001.  After obtaining her formal education in art, she began private study in portraiture in the Classical French Tradition under Jacques Fabert and then briefly under the late William Smith.  She also studied at Oxford University in England.  Among her many honors are Phi Theta Kappa, First North American Artist-in- Residence at The Society of Wildlife Arts of the Nations Museum in Gloustershire, England. She was elected "Master Artist" of the Oil Pastel Society in New York City.

    During her 20year career as a professional artist, Deborah has been recognized for her distinctive oil and pastel paintings.  Camero approaches her work with extreme discipline and is very demanding in her palette, achieving luminous quality and freshness.  Her paintings hold to realism, capturing the mood and essence of the subject.
